Apple is set to integrate OpenAI's ChatGPT into its iOS, iPadOS, and macOS platforms, announced at the Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference 2024. This partnership aims to enrich Apple users' experiences by providing ChatGPT's advanced capabilities, such as image and document understanding, directly within Apple devices.
The integration includes support for Siri, enabling the virtual assistant to leverage ChatGPT's intelligence for better response accuracy. Before any images, documents, or queries are sent to ChatGPT, users will be prompted for consent, ensuring a seamless and secure user experience. Once processed, Siri will deliver the answers directly to the user.
Moreover, ChatGPT will be available in Apple's systemwide Writing Tools, assisting users in content generation for various tasks. The enhanced writing utilities will also feature ChatGPT's image generation tools, allowing users to create images in a wide array of styles. Privacy protections are emphasized, with no request data stored by OpenAI and obscured IP addresses. This new functionality, powered by GPT-4o, will be free to access, and ChatGPT subscribers can link their accounts for additional features.
