Companies are increasingly eyeing artificial intelligence skills as a top priority for training, according to the World Economic Forum. In response to this, Microsoft has spearheaded an AI Skills Initiative. The program revolves around new, free online coursework developed in partnership with LinkedIn, and a novel open global grant challenge aimed at unveiling novel methods of training workers in the field of generative AI. A groundbreaking addition is the first Professional Certificate on Generative AI in the online learning market.
Another facet of the AI Skills Initiative is the Generative AI Skills Grant Challenge, which will explore and implement ways for non-profit, social enterprise, and research institutions to train and enable the workforce in the use of generative AI. Microsoft, in partnership with data.org, aims to support organizations that drive skills training and economic growth, particularly those focusing on equitable and community-led AI implementations in historically marginalized populations. The successful applicants will receive access to Microsoft events, Azure-based cloud computing resources and data training and technical guidance.
Adding to the Skills for Jobs program, Microsoft partnered with LinkedIn Learning to launch the first Professional Certificate on Generative AI in the online learning market, and this course is currently available in multiple languages. A trainer toolkit for teachers, trainers, and facilitators will be also launched, which includes a new AI course built for educators by Microsoft Education and content on the practical uses of AI. The initiative is a significant stride towards enhancing digital skills globally and preventing people from being left behind in the digital economy.
